Developing English lexical competence of 11th grade students majoring in “Hotelier” and “Restaurateur"

Abstract
The article represents diagnostics of the lexical competence in English of the students from 11th grade with specialty “Hotelier” and “Restaurateurs” in P. K. Yavorov Vocational High School of Tourism, Dobrich. The research results confirm that it is unthinkable to develop the receptive speech abilities for listening and reading, as well as the productive ones-for speaking and writing without the necessary vocabulary. The methodology represents the used diagnostic approaches, the motivation for the applied tasks which evaluate different aspects of the linguistic and pragmatic competence of the students. The issue of creating textbooks in specialized language for the vocational high schools is discussed in the article.
