Abstract
Purpose: This study examined instructional supervision, school climate and students’ academic performance in junior secondary school in Lagos state. Two hypotheses were formulated.
Methodology: Descriptive research design was adopted for the study while the population comprised 886 Teachers and 9998 Students in Ikorodu zone under Education District Two of Lagos State. A sample of 300 teachers and 300 students participated in this study. The instruments used were - School climate scale (r=0.79), Instructional supervision questionnaire (r=0.75) and Students’ academic performance report. The statistics used was regression analysis at 0.05 alpha level.
Findings: The results showed that instructional supervision and school climate had significant influence on students’ academic performance in Junior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination.
Recommendation: It was recommended that every School managers should be trained consistently on how to build a healthy school climate with an effective instructional supervision that will boost the performance of their students and their teachers.
