Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyse the issues of cultural tourism and intercultural dialogue, to consider intercultural communicative competence components of a specialist in the field of tourism, to prove the need of intercultural training by all these components in order to ensure the quality of professional tourism activities. The study is based on pedagogical paradigms (knowledge, culturological, humanistic, managerial), pedagogical approaches (dialogue-centred, personality-directed, culture-oriented), theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, generalisations and systematisation of scientific literature) and empirical methods (diagnostic ones such as questionnaire, testing, pedagogical observation, in particular indirect ones) have been applied in the research to reach the outlined aim. It has been proved that the content of intercultural competence formation of future specialists involves such main components as cognitive (knowledge of language, cultural norms and habits), personal (motivation to enlarge intercultural experience based on tolerance, empathy, respect to other cultures) and operational (skills to implement the acquired knowledge and awareness in practice). Successful mastering of the considered components will allow future specialists in tourism to contact successfully with representatives of other cultures, solve intercultural conflicts, thus be efficient in their professional sphere.
